Nuclear Cardiology Around the World: A PatientFirst Approach - Latin America
Overview
This educational activity will focus on local and regionally available cardiac imaging modalities and how to leverage the best tests for patients with suspected cardiac diseases, including the role of PET-CT in evaluating patients with suspected infection and sarcoidosis. The role of nuclear cardiology in a multimodality imaging era to evaluate coronary artery disease as well as in evaluating heart failure of ischemic etiology in patients with advanced coronary artery disease will also be reviewed. The course will include perspectives on an aging population and other factors impacting rising heart failure cases in Latin America.
Target Audience
This educational activity will target physicians (general cardiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, cardiology fellows, referring physicians).
Learner Objectives
After participating in this activity, learners should be able to achieve the following:
• Review the role of nuclear cardiology in evaluating suspected amyloidosis
• Describe the role of PET-CT in evaluating suspected infection/sarcoidosis
• Discuss the role of nuclear cardiology in evaluating heart failure of ischemic etiology in patients with advanced coronary artery disease
• Discuss future opportunities and challenges for nuclear cardiology in Latin America, and the role of nuclear cardiology in evaluating CAD in a multimodality era
Overall Goal
The overall goal of this activity is to improve knowledge and understanding of locally available diagnostic and treatment options in the Latin American region, and to improve patient quality of life and outcomes globally by utilizing the best nuclear imaging technologies locally available.
