This is a self-assessment CME activity in online format consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions. Each question includes an answer rationale and references for further studying. This module will be updated every 3 years. It is designed for practitioners who are performing nuclear imaging studies and want to increase their competence for certification, recertification or general practice improvement.

This activity is designed for nuclear cardiology physicians.
Learner Objectives

Upon completion of this module, learner will be able to:  

  • Discuss the role of myocardial perfusion imaging in patients with stable ischemic heart disease
  • Recognize clinical scenarios in which nuclear cardiac imaging is useful in the pre-operative evaluation for non-cardiac surgery
  • Explain the value and limitations of myocardial perfusion imaging in patients presenting with acute chest pain  
  • Appreciate high-risk features on stress testing with myocardial perfusion imaging
  • Recognize artifacts and incidental findings on myocardial perfusion imaging
  • Identify appropriate management strategies in patients who undergo myocardial perfusion imaging
  • Appreciate the role of nuclear cardiac imaging in patients with heart failure
Overall Goal
The overall goal of this activity is to provide a comprehensive review of nuclear cardiology imaging procedures and best practices and increase physicians’ competence and performance in their ability to improve cardiovascular disease outcomes.
