JNC: Coronary artery disease in patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection (March/April 2021)
Course Overview
This Journal CME activity will examine coronary artery disease in patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection.
Target Audience
This activity is targeted at imaging professionals and is intended to provide the latest information on clinical practice and cutting-edge scientific advances in nuclear cardiology and cardiac imaging.
Learner Objectives
After reading and reflecting upon this article in the Journal Nuclear Cardiology, the learner should be able to:

1. List the factors that contribute to the increased incidence and prevalence of coronary artery disease among patients living with human immunodeficiency virus infection.

2. List the common drug-drug interactions and recommendations for use when combining anti-retroviral therapy with drugs used in coronary artery disease.

3. Understand the clinical presentation and outcomes of coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndrome in HIV-positive patients.

4. Understand the various modalities of cardiac imaging that may be used to diagnose and prognosticate coronary artery disease in HIV patients:

• Exercise Tolerance Testing
• Echocardiography
• Myocardial Perfusion Imaging
• Coronary Artery Calcium Score
• Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography
• Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Overall Goal
The overall goal of this activity is to increase the learners’ competence in the application of nuclear cardiology strategies in clinical practice.
