This activity is one of four webinars offered in 2025. Co-chaired by Parthiban Arumugam, MBBS, Stephen Horgan, MB, BCh, PhD, FASNC and Rupa Sanghani, MD, the case-based programs provide education during parts of the year when no ASNC multi-day PET workshops are available. The series will focus on specific topics intended to enhance skills in providing high quality PET imaging. Each session will focus on a specific topic and feature 2-3 leading experts to discuss case-based studies, presented from workstations to illustrate challenges incurred in PET labs.

Each webinar will take place from 6:00 pm ET to 7:00 pm ET and offers 1 CME credit. Following is the lineup of topics and expert faculty:

June 17th PET MPI Basics and Quality Control
Prem Soman, MD, PhD, MASNC
James Case, PhD, MASNC
Stephen Horgan, MB, BCh, PhD, FASNC
Parthiban Arumugam, MBBS, FASNC

August 20th Approach to Myocardial Blood Flow
Mouaz Al-Mallah, MD, MSc, MASNC
Ian Armstrong, PhD
Parthiban Arumugam, MBBS, FASNC
Stephen Horgan, MB BCh, PhD, FASNC

November 5th PET MPI: Bread and Butter CAD Cases
Dennis Calnon, MD, MASNC
Gary Heller, MD, PhD, MASNC
Stephen Horgan, MB BCh, PhD, FASNC
Rupa Sanghani, MD, FASNC

December 10th Challenging Cases in PET MPI
Timothy Bateman, MD, MASNC
Rupa Sanghani, MD, FASNC
Stephen Horgan, MB BCh, PhD, FASNC

Registration is available on the ASNC website.

To claim your CME certificate, you must first complete a post-test and evaluation. To do this, click the “Get Started” or “Login” button. Please note, the button you see is dependent if you are currently logged in. Upon clicking this button, follow the cues to move through the post-test and evaluation to receive your certificate.
The program is intended for nuclear cardiologists, multimodality imaging cardiologists, imaging technologists, trainees, fellows and those with an interest in performing cardiac PET studies.
At the conclusion of this activity, you should be able to:
  • Explain the importance of combining PET perfusion data with clinical history, ECG, and other imaging modalities to provide a comprehensive risk assessment.
  • Describe the clinical indications for using PET perfusion imaging and when it is the preferred imaging modality.
  • Interpret myocardial perfusion studies with and without myocardial blood flow information.
This activity is part of a series which intends to:
•    Provide additional PET case-based raining to ASNC members and non-members during times when no PET workshops are offered
•    Focus on key topics that present challenges to PET imagers
•    Enhance image interpretation and reporting skills of participants
•    Demonstrate the value of MBF and CAC
•    Offer unique opportunities to learn from experts
•    Identify ongoing educational needs to plan future activities
ASNC offers virtual 2-3 PET workshops depending on the year, 2 Intensive and 1 Advanced. There is a need to provide ongoing PET education, especially PET myocardial perfusion imaging, as more labs adopt this technology. Busy clinicians may not have the bandwidth to attend one of the 2-day workshops and would prefer more focused mini-format.

The Read with the Experts pilot program includes four 1-hour case-based sessions on specific topics related to enhancing skills in providing high quality PET imaging. Each session will focus on a specific topic and feature 1-3 leading experts to discuss case-based studies to illustrate key learnings. Faculty will present from workstations to illustrate challenges incurred in PET labs.
