Course Overview

This Journal CME activity will consider the Feasibility of myocardial blood flow quantification to detect flow-limited coronary artery disease with a one-day rest/stress continuous rapid imaging protocol on cardiac-dedicated CZT SPECT.

Learner Objectives

After reading and reflecting upon this article in the Journal Nuclear Cardiology, the learner should be able to:

  • Understand the impact of rest residual activity on the stress dynamic SPECT data that would result in overestimated stress MBF and MFR in the one-day dynamic SPECT imaging.
  • Understand that this impact is prominent in either the intermittently sequential imaging (ISI) protocol (two dynamic and two ECG-gated scans) or the continuous rapid imaging (CRI) protocol (two dynamic/ECG-gated scans).
  • Understand that the rest residual activity correction (RAC) is important to alleviate the impact to warrant the accuracy of SPECT MBF quantitation for clinical utilization.
  • Understand different types of methods to correct for the rest residual activity in stress dynamic data.
Overall Goal
The purpose of this CME activity in the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology is to increase the learners’ competence in the application of nuclear cardiology strategies in clinical practice.
