ASNC’s AI webinar, The AI Transformation in Nuclear Cardiology: Are You Prepared?, is a 1.5-hour CME-credited live virtual webinar featuring four 15-minute presentations with Q&A led by the program chair and 4 leading experts in the field of cardiology and artificial intelligence.

The initiative will identify key issues, concerns, and unmet education needs among physicians in real-world clinical practice regarding AI in cardiac amyloidosis. The webinar will provide a baseline of information about AI and discuss the current state of AI applications in cardiac amyloidosis and issues that potentially impact widespread adoption.

This program is intended for healthcare providers who diagnose and treat patients with cardiac amyloidosis. This includes a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including nuclear cardiologists, cardiologists, multimodality imagers, interventionalists, nurses, neurologists, hematologists, and other healthcare providers.
The program is designed to enhance learners’ knowledge on the basics of AI algorithms and potential benefits to cardiovascular care. The program will provide an overview of current challenges, controversies, and limitations of AI in cardiac amyloidosis, while providing a better understanding of the application of AI tools in early and accurate diagnosis among patients with cardiac amyloidosis.

The primary objectives of the course are to enable participants to achieve the following:

  • Recognize the clinical utility of AI for early diagnosis and impact on prognosis.
  • Describe the current status of AI in multimodality imaging.
  • Recognize potential sources of bias in AI applications in cardiac amyloidosis.
  • Define ethical and regulatory concerns with adoption of AI in clinical practice.

Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) relies on visual assessment of scintigraphy using bone-avid tracers, which can lead to misdiagnosis. Artificial intelligence-ECG is used for the detection of CA; however, challenges remain in left bundle branch block, left ventricular hypertrophy, and ethnically diverse populations, emphasizing the need for subgroup-specific validation efforts.

Although echocardiography (ECHO) is an initial imaging test for cardiac amyloidosis, ECHO can be subtle in early disease or may occur with coexisting comorbidities. AI algorithms may be applied to 4-chamber views from ECHO to predict the presence of CA and potentially differentiate it from other potential diagnoses associated with left ventricular wall thickening.

Radionuclide scintigraphy also plays a critical role in the diagnosis and determines next steps in the evaluation of patients suspected of cardiac amyloidosis. Multiple AI tools have been developed to increase the accuracy and reliability of radiotracer uptake grading.

Challenges remain for an early and accurate diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis, as subgroup-specific validation efforts are needed, and AI may provide subgroup-specific validation efforts. There is potential to differentiate CA through ECHO imaging and from other diagnoses associated with left ventricular wall thickening.

Evaluation Deadlines: AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and Participation Credits is December 1, 2026.

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology designates Internet live activity for a maximum 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This activity will be recorded and posted on ASNC.org for registered participants unable to join the live virtual event. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Requirements for successful completion and awarding of credit include participation or listening to the recorded webinar and successful completion of the post-test and evaluation.

Maintenance of Certification

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.5 medical knowledge Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points in the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) MOC program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC points. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

To receive MOC points for participating in this Internet live activity, you must be a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and you must have an ABIM account. If you have not established an online account, visit www.abim.org, or contact ABIM by phone: 1-800-441-ABIM; Mon–Fri 8:30 am–8:00 pm ET, Sat 9:00 am–12:00 pm ET.

Please note, upon satisfactory completion of the Internet live activity, passing the post-test and completing the evaluation form, you will be prompted to enter your ABIM ID and date of birth (month/day) to transfer your MOC points to the ABIM. Please allow 5 business days for your ABIM data to be entered into your ABIM record. ABIM will not accept MOC points for this internet live activity after December 1, 2026.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and Participation Credits is December 1, 2026.

Requirements for successful completion and awarding of credit include participation in the live webinar and successful completion of the post-test and brief evaluation.

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology designates this Internet live activity for a maximum 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
