General Cardiology as It Relates to Image Interpretation, 4th Edition, Part II, has a total of 30 multiple-choice questions and includes an answer rationale and references for further studying.

This Part II module will focus on stable ischemic heart disease, risk stratification, and management strategies.

This activity is designed for physicians practicing nuclear cardiology.

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to: 

• Discuss the role of myocardial perfusion imaging in stable ischemic heart disease
• Explain the role of myocardial perfusion imaging in risk stratifying patients
• Identify appropriate management strategies in patients who undergo myocardial perfusion imaging
• Recognize artifacts and incidental findings on myocardial perfusion imaging

The overall goal of this module is to increase learners’ knowledge and competence in their ability to improve cardiovascular outcomes.

An estimated 80 million American adults (approximately 1 in 3) have 1 or more types of cardiovascular disease (CVD) with over 30 million estimated to be under 60 years of age. According to the Centers for Disease Control “Heart Disease Fact Sheet”, in 2006 heart disease was the leading cause of death for both men and women and a total of 26%—or more than one in every four—of all deaths were caused by heart disease. Further, in the United States, one person has a heart attack every 34 seconds and one person dies from a heart disease-related event every minute.
