Course Overview
The goals of the Cardiac PET Advanced Virtual Workshop are to increase learners’ knowledge and competence about all aspects of cardiac PET perfusion and metabolic imaging. Participants will be able to describe and interpret challenging studies demonstrating the clinical value of cardiac PET in, the evaluation of myocardial perfusion imaging with myocardial blood flow and calcium scoring, the assessment of viability, and in the evaluation of patients with inflammation, infection and sarcoid. Clinicians will review cases demonstrating the important role of cardiac PET in transplant patients. Clinical cases using Rb-82, N-13 ammonia and F-18 flurpiridaz will be discussed.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for cardiologists, nuclear cardiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists and imaging technologists with previous PET experience practicing in the field of nuclear cardiology.
Learner Objectives
After participating in this Cardiac PET Advanced Workshop, learners should be able to:
• Explain the added clinical value of both the coronary artery calcium score and MBF measurements for diagnosing coronary artery disease
• Integrate myocardial blood flow and calcium scoring into PET myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) reports
• Detail parameters and image findings that suggest potential artifacts when assessing MBF
• Describe the added value of MBF to PET MPI studies in assessing transplant patients
• Detail important quality measures for PET instrumentation and accurate image acquisition and processing
• Identify patient preparation and imaging protocols for cardiac PET inflammation and metabolic imaging
• Detail the principles and approach to interpretation and reporting metabolic and inflammation imaging studies
• Understand how to measure and report SUV in evaluation of cardiac sarcoid
• Identify incidental findings and understand how to report them on cardiac PET studies
Overall Goal
The overall goal of the Cardiac PET Advanced Virtual Workshop is to increase learners’ knowledge and competence about all aspects of cardiac PET perfusion and metabolic imaging.
