Nuclear Cardiology NOW: Strategies for Optimizatio ...
Nuclear Cardiology NOW: Strategies for Optimization, Efficiency and Productivity
Overview
This program, structured to provide “Intensive” updates for today’s nuclear cardiology practice, will increase learners’ competence in solving technical and clinical issues facing imaging professionals running in today’s multimodality imaging environment.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for cardiologists, nuclear cardiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, and nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine technologists practicing in the field of nuclear cardiology.
Learner Objectives
After participating in this activity, learners should be able to achieve the following:
• Explain the role of nuclear cardiology in evaluation of patients with chest pain
• Compare the clinical utility of prospective clinical trial data and real-world experience
• Understand and choose the appropriate imaging modality in patients with chest patients with chest pain
• Detail needed clinical and imaging studies for the evaluation of patient with suspected transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis
• Characterize false positive and false negative technetium-99m pyrophosphate studies
• Describe recent advances in cardiac single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) acquisition, processing and interpretation, and how they can be incorporated into everyday clinical practice
• Discuss the impact of CZT and solid state imaging on lab efficiency and productivity
• Evaluate the role of coronary calcium scoring in managing patients with CAD
• Review the clinical value of cardiac PET in assessment of patients with chest pain and other cardiac conditions
• Summarize recent advances in positron emission tomography (PET) and the important role of myocardial blood flow
• Integrate optimal methodology to interpret and report nuclear cardiology studies
• Learn how key experts address common clinical situations in their practice
Overall Goal
The case-based approach to disease management equips participants to demonstrate the value of nuclear cardiology to their administrators and referring physicians. The program will provide an in depth look at several important areas where nuclear cardiology imagers should focus efforts to modernize their practice to enhance patient care. The Practical Dilemmas session provides attendees with the opportunity to understand how the expert faculty deal with many of the common problems encountered in everyday practice where no evidence-based clinical guidelines exist.
